For four days in June, Dessel, Belgium will be over- run with legions of metal fans gorging themselves on bludgeoning sounds blasting from the various the stages at the Graspop Metal Meeting.


This year, the big guns have been ordered in direct. Friday’s Mainstage 1 performances light the fuse, combining the might of Slash and Kiss who top the bill, before Marilyn Manson grabs the baton of bedlam on Mainstage 2. For a classic slice of heaviness, the legendary Alice Cooper appears Saturday and the metal gods themselves, Judas Priest, are immediately after. If something even more vicious is what you hunger for, then high- profile death metal practitioners such as At the Gates should satisfy your craving, as should the crunch of Cannibal Corpse on Friday.

No need to worry about where to rest when you need a break from the head- banging either, as the comfortingly- named Metal Town is the designated area for your accommodation needs. Many other facilities are available, as are the Metal Market and Festival Fair where you can purchase plenty of metal merchandise.
